    Moonstonel…
    (765 items)

Early Loetz, ca. 1890, ribbed crystal, Heliotrope shaded to clear, and my first DEK! She is stunning and measures 7 5/8 tall and is in great condition! The bottom is signed I/4 in gold. Series I-1808. Thanks again Warren!!!!!

This was a long time in coming and well worth the wait! She is the last part of my birthday present to myself...which is today.
BTW, when the seller shipped the vase ...they shipped it to the wrong buyer! So this baby arrived and the other buyer... wanted to keep it! The seller begged for 4 days to the other buyer until finally they allowed UPS to pick up the vase :0 I finally received the vase in 3 weeks...which should have taken 3 days! WOW...close one!

Many thanks to Warren Galle, for helping me with the Title, Description and Documentation!

Warren's vase, that helped me research this one! My sister vase!

Deb, many thanks for your confirmation of this attribution.

Alisa, thanks for your help with the first vase that set off my search for another one!

Lee, I'd sing a birthday song to you.... but everyone would suffer after the not so beautiful voice rang out. So we'll leave it as Happy B-Day :-)

Lee, Happy B Day. BTW, Heliotrope is a color. "Persica" is a decor which has Heliotrope colored glass applied to it as well as a yellowish green opal. I know, there is lots to remember but I think that why collecting Loetz is so much fun.

I know I am a Loetz novice but I thought Heliotrope was an opaque blue with darker blue "stripes" ?

      Loetzbuddies, thanks. Fixed it.

Warren, I stand corrected. You never said heliotrope nor persica. And I made the mistake. Thanks for the correction.

Poor Lee. Sorry for all of the confusion. Your vase is indeed a "heliotrop" color. Frank, Yes, this has been a conundrum for me for a number of years because I own an example of the Paris Expo piece with the decor name: "heliotrope with dark blue & silver". Suffice it to say that both you and Lee are correct in assigning the color "heliotrope" to these Loetz examples even though one looks blue and the other is a lavender/violet. The difference is the age of the piece. I was recently able to document this color name switch when I researched a photo of a vase that someone took while they were visiting a museum in the Czech Republic. I have provided a link to the photo of that vase below which is PN 89 LB 23 (Comissioned by L. Boutigny, Paris). The decor name for this 1890's vase is "heliotrop glatt"and it was produced with a DEK of I/4. I will be writing more about Loetz colors and posting an article on Loetz.com but for now I thought you would find this interesting.

Beautiful piece of Victorian era Loetz! I'll have to keep my eyes out for this opalescent lavender glass now :)
    27. Moonstonelover21 Moonstonelover21, 11 years ago
LoetzBuddies, I was told by Deb that the décor was Heliotrope...so that's were the thoughts came from..
    28. LoetzDance LoetzDance, 11 years ago
Lee/Frank. yes! The color of your vase is "heliotrope". See similar colored vase in the photo link that provided above. However, I am not sure what the "decor" is called.

Deb, one day I will get this altogether and have it correct! LOL Sorry

Lee, I keep learning something new about Loetz every day! That's half the fun of collecting it. Keep up the great research work that you are already doing. It will pay dividends later. :)

Deb, that is my photo you've linked to. I took that picture. I took that picture on the sly as well. it is NOT allowed to be posted in public. I do not appreciate my photos being used without my permission.
    33. LoetzDance LoetzDance, 11 years ago
Alisa, I will be delighted to take it down. I would agree that if you took it from the museum on the sly that it should NOT be allowed to be posted publicly. I would think then that you should also take down ALL of the public postings of this photo on your FB Bohemian Glass pages. BTW, we received permission from Hotle to post any of the PGM photos that we took. Did you get his permission
      as well?
