This was my great great grandmothers wedding dress and was just handed down to me by my grandmother. She wanted me to have it so I could find out more about it and what it might be worth etc. Any information would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Hi, I just saw this, and don't know if you still need help with this beautiful gown. I'll give you some info, just in case. My part-time job in college was writing wedding descriptions for the newspaper, and I love beautiful wedding gowns. Your dress will require expert care to restore it. Dry cleaning won't restore the silk organza, but will perhaps darken it further. I used to have the name of a firm in Mississippi or Georgia that restored antique and vintage wedding gowns, but I cannot find the info for you. I went online a found a firm that might be able to help you. At least, they could point you in the right directin. They sell or have sold gowns owned by celebrities such as Barbara Streisand, etc. This is the pedigree they've posted on their website: "Seen on /in:
      "The Oprah Winfrey Show"
      ABC-TV's - "Good Morning America"
A&E TV Series - "The Incurable Collector"
      WCVB-TV/Channel 5, Boston - "Chronicle"
The Washington Post - Dec, 2009
"Cosmopolitan" Magazine / China - March, 2003 issue
"Price Guide to Vintage Fashion and Fabrics" by Pamela Smith / "Vintage Wedding" by Daniela Turudich
"Vitual Vintage" by Linda Lindroth and Deborah Newell Tornello
"Dressing up Vintage" by Tracy Tolkin / "Your Vintage Wedding" by Nancy Eaton
"Ladies Vintage Accessories" by LaRee Johnson-Bruton
"The Passionate Collector" in "Antiques & Collecting" Magazine - June 2001

Your great grandmother's gown is demure and elegant - a gown fit for a bride with a beautiful soul. Best wishes for success.

The 1880's " gigot" sleeves were filled with feathers to "puffed " them .They got wings like angels ....
