Picked this up for 50 cents because it looked old and the house was full very valuable things. Where do you guys think its from? Indonesia or something? China? It doesn't look very new. They had some old Asian stuff there so that's why I'm thinking Oriental

Bali .... , Indonesia. I think it is a Barong. Barong Ket.

Barong is a lion-like creature and character in the mythology of Bali, Indonesia. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda, the demon queen and mother of all spirit guarders in the mythological traditions of Bali. The battle between Barong and Rangda is featured in Barong dance to represent the eternal battle between good and evil.

Indonesia is the closest neighbour of Australia, Still.
The carving on this piece of yours is great.
I have a few pieces myself here on CW.

As jewelry I like the patience and workmanship of the maker.

Yes it must have taken a while to carve it, its very high relief. It looks like a hard wood too

It's Barong, but not sure it is Indonesian as the fairy beast has been adapted by many countries in SE and S Asia. To me it's a miniature souvenir while the real article could be much bigger as a mask. I guess it could be from Nepal.

Anyway, 50c is a great deal, you could resell it for 30.
