This lovely cupboard was handed down from my grandmother, my moms mom. I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of the style and era this cupboard was made.

Lovely cupboard, it has some unique joinery, perhaps fljr can fill in the blanks.

Could you provide a larger more detailed photo, these are too small. You should post one of the back as fljr is going to ask for it anyways :-)

I need to clean the cabinet out first which is a task thats been put off for way too long. Sunday project:)

I have never seen anything like that one, at least I don't remember seeing one.

I would like to see more photos also. The wood on the door doesn't seem to match the cabinet, looks more primitive. I'll wait for the photos.

      What is a Chimney cupboard?

Thats a good question Tom, I just always assumed it referred to the shape of the cupboard. I guess the original ones were made to fill up the narrow wasted space next to the fireplace. Thanks for the tip Phil!!

      It is and Eastlake Cabinet.

I was leaning towards Estlake as well, but the door is so unusual. Perhaps someone just put their own spin on the Eastlake style, or it's a marriage.

I too thought it was Eastlake, except for the door. My first guess is it may of had a glass door on it.

Yes, No and certainly maybe. The pictures are far to small to see much. I would agree it is "Eastlake Style" but not Eastlake. The joinery doesn't appear to live up to their standards. I would guess this may have been made by a small local shop or craftsman. I would also guess the doors are original and were never glass. I say that because I believe it is a jelly cupboard which probably also stored other canned goods in glass jars. I remember growing up certain things were always stored in the dark.
