I do not know much about it. Anyone know anything? It looks old but I can not find a manufacturing mark on it. Oriental for sure, but where and when?

I can't tell you a whole lot about it, but I can tell you that it is a Chinese camphor wood chest. I know this because I have a similar chest that my Daddy traded for a carton of cigarettes during the war. I am not sure of the age of yours, if you are near a museum that has Chinese artifacts you could possibly ask the curator to take a look at it and see if he could give you a possible age.

Very attractive. Yes, it's oriental and certainly could be Chinese but they are made in other countries too. My father got something similar in Korea, and they are still being made so they aren't all old. They also use other types of wood besides the camphor wood. You can definitely tell if it is camphor wood by the distinctive aroma. I know because I have one. If it doesn't have the camphor wood smell, then it can be teak or other woods.

Thanks! Yes, it does have the smell!
