Thia painting was in my Mum's bedroom for many years before she went into the care home and it was given to me. It is oil paint on canvas and is signed by "Montague". It has a little bit of damage in the left hand corner that I guess could be restored. I have never heard of the artist but I know nothing about fine art. However, I thought I would have a quick Google for the artist tonight and came across this:

Mine is 21 cm by 17 cm excluding the frame.
Has anybody heard of Montague?
Thanks
Elaine.
It's very pretty Elaine.... I have a mid-century one that's similar signed "Singer" I posted when I first joined CW. I think a lot of these were just decorative items by relative unknowns. at least as far as the ones in the U.S. Finding information is almost impossible. Most were just very talented art students painting to making a living. I love collecting them none the less. So many were just thrown out as tastes changed. -Mike-

Hi Mike. Yours is beautiful too. I just love the one I have as the heavy oils used reflect the light when you look at it from different angles. Did you see the link I included for one on e-bay by the same artist? There are some talented people out there. Thanks Mike.
