Army Helmet?? The inside comes out and leaves shell.
Not sure if it's WWII but I'm assuming it is!

One of our helmet experts can probably narrow down the period of manufacture based on the suspension webbing, but this is the US M-1 style helmet, made from 1941 through 1985 for the US, and used by a whole bunch of other countries.
Brings back a lot of memories. We used to fill the steel shell with shaving/wash water to clean up in the mornings. Cant do that with the one-piece modern helmets.
Should I take more pictures of the suspension webbing?
Thank you for helping me ;-)
Not my field the US M1, but it does look to be WW2 issue.
This is definitely a WW2 helmet. The webbing is about mid-war in date, and the 'A' washers holding it in place are the earlier type, as is the chin strap buckle and 2-piece sweatband buckle (2nd pic). The shell also has a front seam and fixed bales; everything looks to be an original match. I would guess the date of manufacture to be about 1943.
There is obviously some rust damage and a couple of tears in the webbing. The leather liner chinstrap is also missing - this is where the shoe string has been tied (maybe to hang the helmet?). All round, this looks to be a fairly solid example of the US M1 that would have been worn from the middle of the war onwards. Hope this helps.
WWII MHELMET!!The M1 helmet is a combat helmet that was used by the United States military from World War II until 1985, when it was succeeded by the PASGT helmet!
