I found this while cleaning out my aunt's house. She had it in an antique dresser among several other dolls. I believe it may be from my great grand-father. He came to America while fighting, as a German medic, in the Civil war. His last name was Ackermann.
The doll has a 5 on the middle of the back between the shoulder blades.
The shoes and socks are painted on the legs/feet.
It appears to be similar to the doll head posted by heidi7777 about 19 days ago.
Exactly how old is the doll? What is her name? Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Hi your doll is a reproduction of what is called a "Low Brow China" These reproductions have been done as far as the 1950's and 60's . They reached their hieght of popularity in 1970's and 80's . This was made in a ceramic doll making glass or a person using old molds which are easy to find was making them and selling them , The painting is not to bad but not right nor is the China ( The glazed porcelain is not same quality as antique dolls . She may have recieved it new as a gift when she was older . The originals of this style China doll was made longer than any other style from 1880s to 1930-40's . I might add whoever painted her had the right stroke close on eyebrows . Can I see photo of her body or part of it ? he 5 is the mold size .
