It is either a 127 or 128 Singer . I do not remember which . I think it has to do with the position of the bobbin winder . If the first number of the serial number is an 8 according to the Singer charts on the internet the year your machine was made is 1888 .
It's a model 27, one from a batch of 50,000 machines commissioned January 8 1910.
I think this is the same machine I saw today, in a thrift shop. But it was in a treadle cabinet and they wanted a $100.00 for it, I walked away. I thought that was to high since it wasn't in great shape, but it wasn't bad either. But it sure was for to look at it. I wonder what a decent price would have been for this machine?
Bernadette : Thanks I could not read the first number or letter . What is it ?
vintage4me : If the machine you saw was in a treadle cabinet and the cabinet was in half decent shape with all the parts a $100.00 is not out of line . You should see what they are asking for these machines on our local craigslist . It does not mean they will get that much however . Lol !!!!!
Hello Guys, just got back to my post to find all your great comments, it was so helpful.

I am reading the serial number as G127014 :)
