This is the next piece from a large group that I bought/traded for from a good friend Jericho Mora (who I believe has some of the best Czech glass). I want to thank Jericho for the opportunity to own these wonderful pieces. Next up is this Kralik? swirled or marbled or Kaleidoscope Art Deco Lidded candy jar that stands 8 1/2" tall and 5" at the widest point. Very nice color with green and yellow swirls on a red/orange base. The green has aventurine in it that sparkles in the light. This one appears to be marked on the bottom with a circle mark.

Now that's Czech! Absolutely beautiful...can't say anything more than that except, perhaps, I want to be a friend of Jericho too. (LOL)

Thanks Belmont. And I am sure that jericho would not mind having you as a friend too. :) These are great pieces and even better ones to come...but it was quite an investment on my part too. I was happy to do it though as good glass gets harder and harder to find.

Wow!!! Lovely!! I have one like this too, but mine is missing the lid! I always thought it would have had a metal "flower frog"... so happy to see yours, complete with the lid!!

I have seen this particular shape with frogs too...but not sure if they were made that way or a replacement for the lid

I don't know, but I think the proportions of the vase looks a lot better with the lid!
The design "makes sense" when the lid is there...

Although similar, the two examples are actually different shapes. Possibly by the same house, possibly just quite similar shapes.

Most noticeably, the Rückl case piece has a much thinner width of the neck, and also has one additional partial ring at the top of the body that Tom's piece does not have.

I have no idea why my one comment appeared three times. Maybe Tom can delete two of them and this one.

Here is a comparison of the two shapes side by side. I tried to crop one to show the region where the neck starts on both examples. Hope this helps clarify what I see in comparing the two.

Yep-- the extra ring at the top would mark the ruckl example as a different shape.

I also see the dramatic difference in the necks.

Another case of similar but the "devil is in the details".

I also want to be clear that all I am trying to do here is discuss differences in shapes that I see, and not show who is wrong or who is right. I have been studying shapes daily for over 10 years, and with that experience comes an eye for details. That is all.

Like I said in my first comment. could be by the same house, maybe not. I was simply observing shape differences.

      Good point, welzebub!

I apologize if my comment came across as a "You're wrong" statement.

I agree that the piece in the linked image in the décor like EZa's from Jericho's post is the same as Tom's.

It is also interesting that as the Tango exhibition moved, some of the pieces in the cabinets changed cases. Most did not, but some can be observed changing in picture sets.
    17. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
Scott, I did not think it came across that way...

I simply wanted to make sure my intentions were not misconstrued, as they seem to be by some, on occasion. For me, it really is only about the glass and understanding it.
