This is a U.S. Barber Quarter from 1899 in pretty decent condition. The Barber Quarter was first minted in 1892 and were discontinued in 1916. On the front is Lady Liberty with her cap and a laurel wreath, underneath "In God We Trust." The date appears underneath her.
The back side has the familiar eagle, ringed with "United States of America Quarter Dollar." In its beak, the eagle has a ribbon that reads "E Pluribus Unum."
Notice that the eagle's left wing covers most of the "E" in "United," which means that this is a Type II Barber Quarter. In Type I quarters, the E is less covered; in Type III, the E is entirely obscured, and the wing extends past the letter.
