tea/hot chocolate set passed down by grandmother, no idea of when/where she got it. marked "hand painted" Nippon, interested in value, history. I have loved it since I first saw it in 1967 bright colors and thin, light feel. thanks for any insight

The mark is the same as on Aimathenas - it is a Noritake mark circa 1911-1921

The Noritake Collector’s Guild of Australia gives free access to their porcelain history and marks. I believe that you can also contact the about valuations or help with a pattern identification. Here’s a link:

Thanks idcloisonne, I have been looking and have seen nothing like this one. Any idea of the value? I have 6 cups/saucers and the pot.

Definitely Nippon. If you can find a copy of Joan Van Patten's book "ABC's of Collecting Nippon" you'll find yellow pieces, "xanthic" on page 305. The illustration is also a chocolate pot with cups and saucers. Chocolate pots tend to be taller than tea pots. Not sure why though.

Thanks I'll look it up. Just getting into this so thankful for any insight. Have always just picked up what I liked but now looking to "collect" lol
