This is prob the worst condition palm plate I have ever seen, and thought I would buy it, if it was not too much and get it restored. I know most people are against restoring items, but this palm plate is no longer collectible in its present condition so would be much better off restored. It cost me 18$ to buy it as is condition (the cheapest palm plate I have ever bought lol). It worked out great because the day I got this palm plate was the day I went and got my vertical sign. I took the palm plate with me and asked him if he could restore it for me. He had told me its going cost 125$ to restore it, but would be worth double that once he was done. I think its worth restoring, but I thought I would show you guys what it looks like before and after. Its going be awhile before you see the restored after pictures, but let me know what you guys think of it now. I look forward to hearing from you all, thanks.
Some things just have too be restored. It's not up to anyone but what you think. You can't make everyone happy. Go for it if that's what you want.

I like it as is but that seems a reasonable price for a restoration. The estimate of the restored value also seems right.
Thank you officialfuel and fortapache. I normally would not restore an item, but this palm plate would be much better off restored. In its present condition I think its not worth much more than 18$, but restored can bring much more than that. Not that im interested in selling it anytime soon, but maybe some time in the future. This hobby is a great investment just gotta watch which items you restore.
Considering the huge chips out of this sign, it pretty surprising how readable the word Coca-Cola still is. Its got some really bad damage above and below that word, but not much damage on the word Coca-Cola its self. It kind of makes me wanna leave this sign as is, but the sign is suppose to say "Have a Coca-Cola", not "____ a Coca-Cola".
How would they restore this? I have heard restored items loose value. Has anyone else heard this too. I think it's perfect the way it is.
There are several places in the USA that are restoring signs. Some people are restoring one side and leaving the other side original. But this is one sided. Alot of the auctions have reproductions and signs that are restored. It all comes down to personal preference.

Im curious as to how they would restore it. I will start by saying I know nothing about the porcelain coating process but if they take it completely down to metal and re coat the entire thing, it almost makes it new. Id be in favor of it more if just the damaged areas could be redone. I feel it gives the item respect in a way. Either way the only thing that matters is it exhists. It is whatever makes you happy.
Thanks for your comments Trey, Officialfuel, and robeo4. Officialfuel is 100% right, just wanna add that the US is not the only country that restores signs, its done world wide. There is lots and lots of restored items out there, which is one reason why I dont like to restore mine. Its getting where its hard to find original items, but again sometime restoring needs to be done if the collector chooses so.
To answer both Trey and robeo4's question, restoring can effect an item value in a postive or sometimes negative way. Some items most remain in original condition to bring highest dollar, coins would be an example. Other items like this palm push are almost not desirable in this condition, but when restored a wider market is possible bringing a higher dollar.
When these items are restored properly by a professional sign restorer it is very hard to tell it was restored. They will not take the sign down to bare metal, they would only repair the damage areas. After its completely done you have to hold the item under really good lighting to see where the old and new porcelain meet. Some restore items soo well that you cant tell unless you use a black light.
