Here is an interesting picture that I found in an antique shop. Its of two people who I'm sure have been lost in time. But the interesting thing I see is that the vase on the table between them is a carnival glass vase! Cant tell the pattern but found it pretty cool!

Great photo Scott. I hadn't noticed the vase. Is it by Fentons? I wonder what colour it is, it looks like one of Jayhows dark ones (I'm going to miss him). Shame the patterns a bit blurry. It could be the same as my orange ones i have listed.
A-nj could you send me a link regarding the whole attribution thing, I'd love to read it but can't find it among your posts:(

Its hard to tell from the photo, it may be Fenton. I know what you mean and I really don't know him but I just cant tolerate these petty glass group bullies in any group and if I ran the show they would be gone so fast their heads would be spinning.

Hi A-nj, I didn't know him either really except from his postings:) its a shame to lose anyone though who's passionate about collecting, which he certainly was, it's what CWs all about isn't it. What is it about glass in particular that gets people so riled up! I don't know. You don't get the same thing with pottery, though car mascots seemed to get similar reaction. I guess its just people very passionate about what they believe in. I just wish everyone would play nice.
Anyhow, J had a very nice dark Fenton vase, very similar to the one in your photo & these

Looks similar to me though i can't see the patter.

      Hi Fran,
Well the issue is in my mind and these things have been discussed in different glass clubs. The issue starts with trying to interest new collectors. Clubs and collectors are shrinking for old glass and one of the issues among many is how collectors treat each other. Whether it be directed directly at a new collector trying to learn or a new collector witnessing that kind of behavior can quickly discourage them. And you know what, when it comes time for that nasty collector to sell their collection off, there wont be anyone to buy it!

And...... It the courage people develop hiding behind a computer. Its sort of like the guy that gives you the finger from his car as he is speeding away :)

      That is what I understand

Thats Exactly what my son said A-nj, about being easy to be nasty, faceless, behind a computer. Not that i thought anyone was particularly nasty, more passionate & heated, maybe a bit nasty :S. Gawd, if what you say about some glass collectors & dealers is true, I've probably been well played, lol, i got into glass from looking & reading CW and was almost driven away from glass by the ' inside' arguments from CW, in the end though, i still like glass & will buy what i like (& can afford:)

Good for you, never let those kind of people win. Collect what you love and enjoy it. Ones that act the way they do probably don't enjoy anything anymore.
