These are the seller's pictures. Just bought this yesterday and it is coming from Berlin. The seller's description:
"Vase. Bohemia, about 1900-1920. Height - approx. 12.5 cm. Width - approx. 15 cm. Diameter (ground) - approx. 8.5 cm. Good used condition. Age-related signs of use (see photos)"
I have never seen a spatter glass vase like this (the colors and spatter-on-spatter effects) and am seeking opinions about the maker and age - it is so different from Czech Art Deco pieces I have seen (the decor not the shape) that I am wondering if it is possibly new or even Bohemian?
Please see close-ups for better detail.
Thanks Leah
Looks to be iridized. The photo showing the interior hints of cadmium? The built-up spatters/surface treatments REMOTELY reminds me of "granite ware"?
Mosaic spatter - I like that term - it fits. Looks like a French Impressionist painting - in glass.
Looks like the seller has wiped an oily cloth over it . Will be interested in seeing if the surface is that shiny when you get it . I still think Czech or German as they do like ribbed vases ..
Thanks Marty, we will see
Thanks Gary
Thanks everyone
The colour is just awesome, as if the someone who made it knew just where every colour was going, certainly a tour de force !~
Thanks again Phil
