It is a Doulton Burslem mark used from 1902 - 1922.
      http://www.chinafinders.com.au/dating_burslem.asp

This has some information about the design registration number.
1889 was the year when the design was registered.
      http://www.chinafinders.com.au/dating_lambeth.asp
But that mark suggests a later use of the design.

I have a Doulton Collectors book which has this piece under their”Huntingware” collection. Originally the pieces started out with applied hunting scenes and then progresses into other areas popular at the time. A piece very similar to yours, but with the number 2894, is described in a catalogue from 1914 as
Fine salt glazed stoneware with “Toby” and other relief decorations-
      “Egyptian” cocoa jug
There were two sizes made, a 1 pint and 1 quart, so perhaps that is why your number is different?
It did come with a lid, which appears to have the same finial as yours, however the catalogue has drawings, not photographs.
If you google Doulton Hunting ware or Toby wear, you will find more pieces to compare.
