I found this box at an Antique shop several years ago. I loved the art on the top of the box. The inside is lined in red velvet. It measures 5.5in x 3.5, The detail around the edge of the box as well as the legs are impressive and quite beautiful. I wish I knew more about it. Japan is carved on the rocky gold toned bottom.

Very nice. Is the top fabric?

The picture seems to represent some version of The Massacre of the Innocents, that used to be a popular subject, painted by various artists. Personally, I don't think I would not enjoy looking at that on my dressing table every morning.

It does seem a bit intense. But I love oddities like this.
