My wife and I love hopping in the truck and driving up and down the alleys, seeing what other people put out by the dumpsters for free. 98% is really junk but that 2% is what makes it a legit form of treasure hunting. It's paid off many times and here is the coolest item we have come across...a 1941 Victrola phonograph console. Unfortunately it was missing the "magic brain" phonograph player and speaker but its still an awesome piece of furniture, especially for free. Structurally SOLID, all original matching hardware and decals are in great shape. Beyond my ability to restore to working condition and dont really care to either.
It had the ability to tune into police, amateur, short wave, aircraft frequencies and various other meter's that I dont understand because they were way before my time.
Sure beats an Ipod dock doesn't it!
Beautiful thing just as a piece of furniture without all the works. Thank you!
Much as I hate to admit my age this is a fun piece as it is. Don't worry about restoring it because they never came in that good anyway...always buzzing.
What a great find, congratulations.
