Another piece found this weekend in my search for Czech pottery. That was not successful, but I did find a couple pieces of glass. The mark was too weak to photograph, but is a straight line "Czechoslovakia" acid mark. I believe this to be Welz Honeycomb but welcome any thoughts. The blue is so electric that it jumps out at you. Much stronger in person. A small vase only about 5 inches tall.
Added two more pictures this one with the mark I was able to get. It appears it also has "Made in" above the "Czechoslovakia". It didn't get marked well, so that is a guess (as well as my attribution to Welz).
Thanks Czechman. I do too, actually all covered pieces. It's just right for a bowl of M&M's.
Cool Cool Cool!
Thanks everyone. Every once in a while a find a gem.
It is stunning fishiowa, i love the lid. I would Love one of these!! May is this definitely a Welz because of documentation or the acid mark? Just curious concerning the whole Welz debate.
I added a couple more pictures: One in sunlight and one of the mark (at least as well as I could get it). It appears there is also a "Made in" above the "Czechoslovakia mark". I don't know if this will help with attribution more than the overall appearance. The comments that I used the question mark because I don't know or am seeking additional input is dead on. I am only going by what I was able to find on some of the glass websites as the closest to this piece.
Unfortunately the same is true with a lot of Czech pottery, at least the pieces that only say "Made in Czechoslovakia". One researcher spent years trying to discover who the manufacturer was, to no avail. Maybe if it were clear, we wouldn't find it as interesting. Thanks for the input. I like learning.
