Some observations re the above: if the vase is the focus, don't let the flowers take over (although I feel that, almost always, the fresh flowers will win); the rose leaf almost perfectly matched the flower frog detail; if you want to take a few vases at the same time - start with the tallest and cut stems down as you go; the roses are now in two TINY spatter vases! A belated present for my valentine.

(Roses and unopened orange fresia BTW).

I am wondering whether flowers should exactly mirror the shape of the vase as they are presented, or could seem to explode out, spilling over as a superabundance, or could be more understated and carry one or two stems with perfect flowers... Undecided. Maybe all of the above.

      You're most welcome.
I hope you do post more with flowers. They were intended for flowers ;) & wow did you make a great example with the gorgeous vases in this post.

Ian, they look so lovely. So spring like, too! I really enjoy seeing the vases with flowers, too. I have had a green and yellow Rindskopf in or bedroom with narcissus in it lately, and just love the combination. (Of course I almost had a heart attack, too, when my almost three year old was 'helping' to sweep, and almost knocked the vase on the floor with the broom handle - luckily I am pretty quick and managed to catch it!)
