Great poste Tora. Don't see buckles like that everyday! Makes you wonder how many Americans know that their soldiers fought & died to keep opium flowing into the States? And probably almost of of that was for commercial sale.
Nice! Where'd you find it?
The belt buckles are mine, from my Army unit, I was a Manchu in Vietnam. The info. is from our website manchu.org
AmberRose "Keep Up The Fire!" XXOOXX
Did you do the Manchu Mile for that buckle? There is another Manchu that's posted here as well. I have the buckle I was issued with my army keepsakes, but I bought another that I wear (actually I happen to be wearing it right now). Lots of folks ask about it.
Keep up the Fire!
Never heard of the Manchu Mile? Helicopter took me by Cambodia when I arrived in Vietnam, before that I did training at Fort Polk, Tigerland La. I was given a zippo lighter with dragon and keep up the fire! I was 18 and said "no thank you, I do not smoke! All the guys laughed and squad leader yelled at me! "You blank, blank, etc. It is for burning down villages!" I thought what am I doing here??
Manchu Mile's what you do these days before they let you wear the buckle. 25 mile march in rucksack and full battle rattle. I'm not sure they bothered with it during the Vietnam war.
No, When I arrived they were fighting, it was beginning of TET Offensive. Besides all the VC, North Vietnamese well trained Army was coming down the Ho Chi Minh trail, Laos, to Cambodia, then crossing. That is where we were.
