This is a standard size pocket watch with no opening lid. It was given to my father-in-law when he was four years old - that was 1944. He informed me that a woman from his village felt bad that he didn't have one so went and found this one in her closet. He thinks it was old at that time. The only word on it I can find is Elida. We are just trying to see if anyone knows how old it might be.

well did a little poking around and it looks to be a Swiss watch from the 1920s/1930s,..very nice piece a good quality watch,.usually a 17 jewel movement,..probably could use a cleaning at a decent watch place,.take care of it its a good one,.not a cheapo dollar watch

Wow thanks for the quick response. I'll have him get it cleaned. Still works too. Just wound it up after sitting and off it went. So Elida is a Swiss co? And what's 17 jewel movement?
