When a couple of days ago Sean shared his great porcelain glove moulds I just had to look up the bookshelf and take a look at our porcelain hands they reminded of so much. I had taken pictures of them not long ago, so I couldn't help writing this comment “'you're gonna make me work a lot to post a simmilar -and older- item in our colection ;)”. And I've been a hard worker and here are the pictures of these great hands/gloves.

They were designed by Gio Ponti for the Richard Ginori ceramics brand in the 1930s. They can be found both in glossy and rough finishing, and every glove is different in both size and decoration (I guess there's limited number of models... so far we've got 8 hands and at least 5 or 6 different models) and, of course, they can be right or left hands. They're usually numbered and bear the Richard Ginori stamp.

I've just found one on the internet that was sold on an auction, and they say it comes from around 1935. (http://www.artvalue.com/auctionresult—ponti-gio-1891-1979-italy-mano-a-tutto-tondo-in-porcella-1496779.htm).

In the Gio Ponti book edited by Ugo La Pietra for Rizzoli an image of two simmilar but ornated hands (The Sorceress Hand and The Flowering Hand) appears among the works he designed for Ginori in the 1930s, although the simple ones could have been produced later. I guess we need an expert that will tell us about this.
