Bought these 2 at auction. Occupied Japan on bottom. They were both FILTHY with (I'm guessing) a layer of nicotene. In fact, the lady is cleaned up, the man is not (in the pic) and you can see the color of his base is yellow....blech!) Anyone have any ideas who might have made them and when?

You should find plenty of these online, even on eBay. Identifying them without other marks is next to impossible when it comes to the maker. We bought and sold quite a few about ten years ago, then people seemed to move on to something different.

If they are only marked w/Occupied Japan then no u can't identify maker. However they had to be marked Occupied during the USA occupation of Japan during WW2.That dates them to bet.Feb.1947 & Apr.1952.Typically Occupied are worth more than MIJ(Made in Japan) & many collector's that only buy MIOJ(Made in Occupied Japan). There are numerous collector books on both.
