Hi, This has been in mums jewellery box for years and I now have it in mine. I have no idea what the badge was for or what era so is a real mystery to me. It is brass. It has the letters "OMS" in enamel on the front and the year 1928. On the back is says "McDonnell and East" and another word I cannot read as it is partially covered by the clip. It looks like a hat clip that slide on. It also has the number "160" on the back. I have looked on the web and cannot see anything at all about this little mystery. Any help as to the meaning of the "OMS", the year, brand, it origin, or number on back will be really interesting and may help me to trace back where it came from.
What country do you live in? Australia?
This exact item is currently listed on ebay
Hi, Yes, I live in Australia.
McDonnell & East was the name of a department store in Australia in the 1920's but I will not research this further because you have it listed for sale.
Ok I understand. Thank you. I have put it on to try to see what happens and any one comments about it as well. Yes, I have heard of Mcdonnel and East as I am from Brisbane and there was a major store there when I was a kid. It seems very strange to have this on the back of the badge. Should I take the badge off?
