I have moved into a house and the people who lived there before have left this chime clock. I want to find out more information about this clock. I want to no how old it is, how much is it worth, where it orgianted from and what the exact name it is or could possibly be?
It's a beautiful clock and it's really big. I don't have the measurements it any other details. I know it might be an R and A because this is on the clock.
Please help
Thank you
Leah
Beautiful! You are very lucky! The R-A does not denote a maker, but rather a style and many clocks have this on their pendulum. I'm not sure what it actually stands for. Sorry, that's all I can provide. My guess is that it is German, 1880-1900ish. But, it is only a guess!
Aw thank you . You have been a help. I have been trying to find it everywhere but now that makes sense. It is a beautiful clock. I will keep researching . Thank you for your help.
R&A has to do with regulation of the clock's speed. "R" means slower and "A" means faster.
In order to help identify your clock, please provide the following:
Any and all information printed, stamped or labeled on the dial, movement, case, pendulum and key. This includes names, trademarks, serial/model/patent numbers and dates.
How often does it need to be re-wound?
Measurements of the dial and case. Please take measurements at the longest, widest, and deepest points only.
Well lit photos of the entire case, with close-ups of the dial, movement and any distinctive decorative feature(s) or labels.
Please note if the case appears to have a simulated or "faux" finish.
This information can be very helpful, but it still may not lead to a definitive model or date.
Thank you Bruce99 I will check later and update you.
Thank you
It is pointed west so it must tell wind direction also.
Man...I hope you played the lottery that day....I give my left....well...I love to come up on something that great....that is a great find...beautiful
Advance and Retard...
You're right Nathan, "Retard" just sounds bad to me so I don't use it. Perhaps I was called a Retard too many times while growing up. :)
