Two small vases that my mother owns, 6" and 6.75" tall respectively. We don't think they are "awe inspiring" but simply "nice" and we would like, if possible, any thoughts on possible maker/s.
The "orange enamel" vase is marked "Czechoslowakia", as shown. Cut/ground top and sort of a "bubbly" consistency to the glass itself (see pic #2).
The second vase is marked with a "47" and has a cut/ground top. The purple "stripes" appear to be "flashed" (could be wrong about that). A portion of the vase above the colored foot is frosted/satin finish (see pic#1 close up).
That CzechosloWakia" signature is really different.
Was it made for the Hungarian market?
Perhaps it is mort Hungarian.
I have looked a bit more carefully ..... the only form I have found so far of Czechoslowakia is Dutch.
This is a new one for me, VioletOrange.
Thanks for sharing it!
You're welcome. I didn't even look closely and was totally oblivious to the different spelling - so thank you, vet
Yes I agree on the Hungarian market. My husbands family are Hungarian and the references to "unusual" colour combinations in the various hand me downs and the heavy overuse of flowers in as many places as they can put them on something is plentiful...
I think your mothers vases are lovely..
Thanks everyone
Beautiful!!!
