I missed out on this lovely vase on it's first way round and wasn't going to on it's second listing, so when it was nearing it's time I sat here mouse tightly held in my hand....waiting!
I just have to explain that in our N.Z. on line auction site, you can't snipe and I'm one that doesn't like to bid till the last 2 minutes I have to also explain that the bids can go on for ever because not like eBay were it ends on the time stated this auction is extended every 2 min every time a bid is placed after the finishing time ...great! for the seller extremely frustrating for the buyer....I also don't like to ask questions, unless really necessary or photos are that bad...but! these photos were perfect...could see the detail really well...and the post was high so I thought!... a decent size!
The vase had gone at the beginning of it's listing so I thought I was in for a fight.... well I won on it's second bid... $1.50 ...it had been listed at $1..so I was a happy little camper!
The vase arrived 000000h!...and the size of the parcel.. a large shoe box confirmed to me a good size....then I started to unpack...and! unpack...and unpack.....:-/....there it is..in front of the box...yes!..it is there you have to look carefully...:-))))
And there we have it..a beautiful, perfectly formed all be it.. midget vase...:-)))
It stands proud at 5cm - or just under 2 inches.
I have categorized in Bohemian I have but have no idea who by.....can anyone help...many thanks...:-)
Oh my goodness that is tiny lol.....Well at least it was packed well Inky :) Hope it's worth a fortune !
Lol!... Yes!...mikelv85...after reading a few posts about bad packing jobs, I just had to show this one... it has every one in hysterics whom I show, it's my latest party trick...:-))))
In English english something so small and dainty would be called "dinky". I do so love the dimples.
Hi!..sklo42... I understand "dinky".... Many years ago I was English...thank you...:-))...
Hello and thank you vetraio50...:-)
Hello LeahGoodwin....Yes!...it is very fine...the white threading is under the clear glass....it also has quite a bit of wear to the base....thank you....:-)
Inky I have looked at the NZ auction site and was surprised at the way bids happen - that's a lot of hard work! It's a cutie alright and that last photo is a cack!
LOL! Oh Inky i haven't chuckled like that in awhile. I didn't see it in the last photo until you pointed it out. Such a Big box for a such little thing! I'm often surprised by sizes, even when the size has been given in a descriptions, I've had things arrive & still been surprised by their size. Lovely little vase btw:)
Nice story, nice vase, nice person
very BEAUTIFUL!!
Hi,
this might possibly be a early Loetz vase, you may compare it with the vase shown in "Loetz Boehmisches Glas 1880-1940" Vol 1 (by Prestel) page 67 fig.13. (I hope you have this book)
It shows the same type of ribbs. You then may own the 2.nd known example of this type.
Hi Kairomalte could you put ascan of that piece up so we can see it?
My Guess is that it is by Salviati from Murano Italy.
Nice story Inky!
The little beauty is so cute, and I laughed so hard imagining your unpack unpack and unpack! (Had nearly same packing for... A tie tack!)
racer4four...it is!..hard work and a pain in the you know what, I wish we could snipe.. would make things a whole lot easier, emotions like at a real auction get high because of their silly system and can pay way too much for stuff, but I suppose that's more money for the them and the idea!..
Thank you also to...

Vintagefran...I have more often than not always surprised at the size yes!..even when stated...somehow it never sounds as big as it is when you actually receive it, a nice surprise...I have never had the this way were it was much..muuuuuch!! smaller than anticipated..lol!...but! now that is good too..I love the dinky thing!..it makes everyone smile...that has to be good, doesn't it!....:-)))
Inky, I thought your vase was much bigger until I saw the last picture - how funny! :) It is really sweet - I love the dimples, too!
VioletOrange....thank you so much for your lovely comment.....:-)

I agree that this is from Murano, these come up fairly regularly on ebay in different kinds of zanfirico styles. Very attractive!
Love the story. Very fun! I have the Prestel book and compared your vase to the one mentioned as being on page 67 fig.13. The book piece is blue, does not have mica flecks and the ribs are slanted rather than straight up and down. Not sure who made your vase but I like it. A great buy too!
Funny... Love your midget vase.
Thank you bracken3...it was quite funny as I unwrapped it...no chance of anything happening to this vase on its way to me...:-)))
Thank you LoetzDance...the vase is clear with no mica flecks..just dirt between the ribs that I can't get out ant the moment....:-)
Great price inky ! love it even if it is toothpick holder :-) I did know you cold not use sniper there , that would rule me out because I always forget to get to PC in time , I can count on auto snipe to remember :-) xoxoxo
Many thanks miKKoChristmas.....:-)
