    I took this to my jeweler and he said it was brass. The figure is approximately 1 1/2 inches tall. The base is a square: 1 1/4 inches. I figured out (hopefully I am correct) that is a stamp. What I don't know is: place of origin, time period, purpose. Please assistant. Thanks.

      It's is an analogy to the chinese official seals in Ming/Qing dynasty, but it's nowhere near the real antique. The unpolished surface and lines carved by steel tools says it all.

      oh, I was surprised this seal was made by wax mold. In that case, it could be a real thing and I would like to read the chars in hope to find out to whom it used to belong, if you could replace the blurred image.
