This is an early moulded beer stein, the date shown in the pewter mark is 1835.
it shows the former owners monogram W.R. on top of the lid.
as far as i know (and i know hardly anything about german steins) this kind of relief steins has been produced from circa 1835 onwards?
just read a little about steins..
it has a nicely crafted relief decorations show ornate floral motives with a hunter in different life situations (loving, drinking, meeting the grim reaper).
i believe this one is supposed to be from regensburg or westerwald region.
normally beer steins are not my cup of coffee.... (i'm not a bavarian) but exceptions prove the rule....
even i don't know if i will keep it
