I didn't pick this item but actually purchased it at an antique house in Minnesota. The place has a weekly sale but the auctioneer told me attendance the night I attended was down from normal weekly sales. This piece is double-sided with a small hole near the top where it hung from a string or piece of twine from the ceiling of an old general store. I dated it to the early 1900s. It's in mint condition. I had it framed and matted, not just for preservation, but for display purposes. Sleepy Eye, MN was known for the mill/creamery and for Sleepy Eye Pottery. I collect old spice tins and advertising pieces and am proud to have this in my collection. I love the colors and artwork.
I love it

What a wonderful piece of americana , it conjures up a simpler life from a time long ago . Can you imagine your town council voting to change your towns name to" Sleepy eye" today ? Jack
Thanks for the comments! Every time I look at this piece, I imagine it hanging from a tin ceiling in an old mercantile with the ceiling fans making it spin!
