I thought these were adirons, but I am not sure. They are interesting and ornate. I believe that I found these at the Habitat Store. I don't really know what to do with them so I set them in front of my fireplace. What do you think they are?
Yes, No and Maybe. These look more ornamental than for actual use. The logs would sit on the rear leg that goes back into the firebox. You didn't give dimensions but this looks way short ( rear leg) for an actual andiron or made for a super small fireplace. I would say yes it is an andiron but for looks only as opposed to actual use. Real andirons will stack quite a bit of wood to last the night and some are elevated to use a coal basket or ash grate with them.
