The Department issued this 3-cents stamp on February 11, 1957, through the Seattle, Washington, post office to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Coast and Geodetic Survey. The flag of the Coast and Geodetic Survey is featured as stamp's vignette. The text "Coast and Geodetic Survey 1807 1957," in dark modified Gothic, is arranged in two lines across the top of the stamp. In the lower left corner of the stamp is "US Postage" in whiteface modified Gothic, and in the lower right corner "3c," in dark, modified Gothic. Designed by Harold E. MacEwen, the stamp was printed by the rotary process, electric-eye perforated, and issued in panes of fifty stamps each. The printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
Your stamps are great. The fact that these four stamps at a corner provides just one perfect undamaged stamp is a hint to the quality of the group you have purchased. True collectors pieces, all!
True that vetraio, I also found an addressed envelope possibly the person whom these once belonged to. The post mark is 1973 and the address is an address here in Las Vegas. I went to the address 10000 block of Las Vegas Blvd, which is the Northbound center lane of inerstate 15.
