A before and after...
This is a beautiful bicycle I "stole" from a friend, restored and returned.
A 1955-56 Sunshine bicycle manufactured by the Massey Harris (Tractor) company. There was a sub-division, "Sunshine Harvester" that made farm implements.. and bicycles... apparently. The front crank is actually the symbol of the old Sunshine Harvester company logo... google it..
It came in Light Blue and this Ox-Blood Red.
It was his mum's bike, purchased new and repainted to look more like a schwinn some time in the 1960's.. I sandblasted and found the original pin-striping - it actually had dual stripes on the fender but the single stripe better matched the rims and the chain guard.
Matched the paint and I changed out the tyres to better suit the "look".
It turned out beautifully - reminds me of red licorice. It still needs new hand grips, seat and pedals. But overall, it looks and rides amazingly.
