I'm hoping someone out there can tell me what these are. I bought them in a garage sale. Originally they were in a slim, black, cardboard case that was lined with blue velvet and had a place for each "tool". There was one missing. They appear to be stainless. Each of the larger ends is a different size than any of the other ones. The ends unscrew and each end has a number on it. That is all the information I have on these. I've tried to google images on them but the closest thing I come up with is a S-shaped quill flattener. But it isn't quite like these. I've been offered suggestions - some have said they would have been for abortions, some said they were vet instruments. One person said they were to tune pianos. ????
I was going to say they are for picking your nose but then I thought everyone might laugh. The different sizes and the bend tends to make me think they may be submucous elevators. Research them along with antique sinus rasps and compare the shapes.
These are called sounds. Maybe Van Buren Sounds to be specific. They are inserted to prob and open passages such as the urethra.
