This beautiful old stove was in the basement of the house that we bought last year. The house was built in 1928 and the stove is so heavy that I am pretty sure the house must have been built around it! It's by Windsor, and the color is called Admiral Blue. I was told by the previous owners of the house that it makes fantastic bread, but I have never tried hooking it up and cooking with it. I don't know much about cast iron cookstoves, but the blue color is so pretty I just had to share a few photos. Not really sure what to do with it...

The nice thing about these stoves is that they just bolt together, so they can be disassembled to be moved. Beautiful piece!

      Here's a similar one, they say it's worth $2000:

That is an old beauty. My grandparents always had a Glenwood right up until they died. During the early 20's my uncle was born pre mature and there was no hospital. They wrapped him up in a blanket, put him in a shoe box and put him in a pie warming oven when he was born. They thought he would never live because he was so small. I remember the stove and the pie warmer that sat beside it. My sister has them now. Amazing what people did and made with these stoves. Can you imagine cooking on wood in mid summer? We lived through it and I often wonder now how we did it. If you take it apart to move it some of the stove bolts are going to break. Save them so you can get the same size new ones. Make sure you get actual stove bolts because they will stand the constant heat. Your stove is a fun item that brings back memories. Also, I learned the hard way to never rest your feet anywhere on the stove to warm them. Especially if you are wearing sneakers.

Wow, that is an amazing story about your uncle! Makes me wonder what kinds of tales this old stove could tell if she could talk :-)

Upstatenycollector - that restored stove in the link you sent is beautiful. Exactly the same color as mine, although mine is not in such nice condition, and I am too chicken to try and restore it myself. Thanks for sending!

You're welcome, Heather! I wouldn't try to restore it myself either. Enamel takes special treatment so it will be heat resistant. I have seen unrestored stoves go for good money too! Love the color on yours!
