This lovely carved piece I recued from total destruction. It was warped and very sad looking.I wet it and stood some heavy concrete pots on it so it regained it''s shape.Luckily without splitting.
I have tung oiled it the darker stain is where I spilt the oil.
I will eventually hang it.Any ideas of age or meaning?
Also the carving is wright side up one end then upside down on other if you look at it on wall.
I have also shown a sideway view.
Any ideas wether it was a table top? maybe a wall hanging?
Who knows?
I love it. It's not that sort of carving we Aussie commonly find in a Bali souvenir shop, at least not recent years. I hesitate to consider it as a desktop as there is no slot or mounting points could be used to hold a tempered glass top. A hanging panel could be closer to the right answer. I have other Bali wood pieces made from ebony or so called black rosewood, whose strong odor smells tropical.
Wow! You did a very good rescue! Love the wood color, ans the "bas relief" carving. It seesm old for me, and certainly a wall hanging.
Very nice find!
Wonderful carving!. This would look great as a table top! (might need a glass cover which wouldn't be so good).
Well rescued!
Stunning!!!
Very beautiful. Nice rescue...
