RARE Early work of Rafael Melendez (1911 - 1980) one of the first Silversmiths trained and launched into the game by William Spratling. He started working for him in 1932 and by 1939 Melendez was Soaring with His own Wings! "PLATERIA MELENDEZ"
Most work such as this was done with Heavy Gauge 980 Sterling Silver.
It features a early hallmark of Melendez as seen in the attached photos.

This is an AMAZING piece!! Circa 1940's. It measures 3" x 2.25" when closed. Features a Sterling slide carter pin for securing it to the wrist.
