I've been searching to find out what style this chair is made in, and an approximation of the time period. As far as I can tell, it is decently old based on the wood, and the fact that it was stuffed with straw and horse hair. I have a friend who turns antique chairs into art pieces, and I was thinking of turning it over to her. The other option is to restore to 'original' condition.

Beautiful! I'd opt for a restoration as well! See if you can't find a William Morris fabric to go with it. Something like this: http://www.wheathills.com/pages/designer-fabric.aspx
Could very well be 1870-1890, a guess without seeing the joints.
