I couldn't pass up this example of Rubin Matt Iris when it was offered for sale by a friend and fellow collector. This is the only example of this decor I've ever seen. The paper pattern for this shape offers up the DEK number - "Rubin Mattiris I/59" is indicated right on the pattern drawing. (see last photo scan)

The decoration is all in raised enamel, and the stylized (ferns?) continue to the bottom half of the piece, where a very art nouveau "pastry bag" type decoration completes the design. Rubin is one of my very favorite Loetz colors (along with cobalt blue).

The drip and leaf pattern shown on the line drawing is from another decor mentioned in the back of Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880-1940, Band II (Ricke) - a "Grün mit Flimmer u. SilberAuflage" (Green with Silver), of which there is a spectacular example in the Glasmuseum Passau. Additional photos of this vase can be seen in the decor index on Loetz.com.

Thanks - actually, while this one looks blue/violet from the outside, it is actually a deep ruby red ground.
