I do see a lot of Native American and Mexican pottery at the thrifts but this really caught my eye. It's a little 3 footed seed bowl with a cute little Armadillo walking among a fern and flower design. The hand painting is really well done in shades of blue grey and iron oxide red. It's has a light shellac or glaze over the tan clay body. The interior and the bottom are left unglazed. There is a signature, but little online about this artist. Seems to be a fairly common name but hard to ID the exact person. I believe it came from the Tonala, Jalisco, potteries near Guadalajara . -Mike-
Gorgeous Mike!
I have some Tonala birds which have a similar "feel" to this.
I love the armadillo!
