These are two cups I added to my porcelain collection. They are made in Germany. My best guess is that they are from the early part of the 1900’s; maybe 1920’s. The back stamp features a stylized image of a castle and the words Altenburg China Germany. Apparently, this is an export mark but I could not find any concrete date for it.
Thanks for looking:)
Grapes are always fun decoration. I'm drinking my morning coffee so I will cheers to you with my Franciscan mug!
Thanks, AmberRose. I hope you are enjoying your morning coffee. Cheers to you, too:)
These beautiful pieces were made by Unger & Schilde of the Thuringia region of Germany. Some pieces are also marked Saxe, so I’m not sure if that would help date your piece more accurately, Altenburg is the name of a town, is Saxe also?
maryh1956, yes, Altenburg is a town in Saxe. It used to belong to Thuringia until everything was changed after the wall came down in 1989. Kind of confusing. Also, Roschützer Porzellanfabrik Unger & Schilde came up in humble search for answers, confusing me further. If I understand correctly, they used Altenbug only for exports. I guess when I have time I have to search a bit more. In the mean time, thanks for your help. I knew I could count on you :)
Thanks, aghcollect:)
These are very beautiful!!!
Happy Easter :)
Thanks, SEAN68 and Aimathena.
Happy Easter to all of you:)
