Currently trying to restore a 1950's VMC 27 Coke machine, and its taking alot of time and money. Every little part is costing more than I thought, so other projects have been set aside.
I wanted to find all the parts to these truck before I posted them, but its going be awhile before I get them, so just enjoying my trucks as is for now.
Its hard to find the dolly's the go with these truck, I manged to find a dolly to go with every truck seen in pictures (thats suppose to have one). My favorite truck gotta be the 1950's yellow marx truck. Hard to find for fair price, I paid 10% book price for mine. Its missing its original soda cases, I managed to find repo ones (no coke logo on them). The red Marx truck also has repo soda cases, I dont think this truck originally came with toy soda cases. I was going get tiny coca cola stickers and put them on every single case, but going wait on that. I need to find a front grill for the red marx truck, hoping to get an original but will settle for a remake.
The metalcraft truck is the only truck seen in pictures that I dont think ever had dolly. Its hard to find this truck with good decals, this one has pretty good decals. This is the harder to find metalcraft truck, its suppose to have working headlights, but mine are missing.
For now these trucks display pretty good as is, when I finished my coke machine I will try to complete these trucks.
Nice Coca-Cola toy truck collection. Good luck with the 27 resto. Upkeep on the vending machines can be pricey, I hear ya.
awesome collection Trev, nice to find all the accessories for them too!
Isn't it hell having an obsession like this? You seem to know your problem, so now it's controlling it. LOL Just don't let this eat up the money for your net connection so you can keep us up to date. By the way, luv them!
Thanks for the comments Dave, Bernie, and Blunderbuss2!
I got the VMC 27 all pulled apart right now, cleaning every little part ill take some pictures of it when I get her back together.
I didnt think I would find soo many of the accessories for my trucks, Im really close to having them all complete just gotta find a couple pieces for a couple of them.
This is a great hobby, but man is it ever pricey, and only getting more pricey as the years go by. Its hard for young collectors like me to enjoy this hobby without breaking the bank, but doing alot of the work yourself keeps the costs low. I'm getting close to seeing the finish line for my VMC 27 restoration, I think it will be totally worth it when im done.
I think you are beginning to understand "Grasshopper". LOL
LOL thanks, I leaned how fast costs add up on these restorations. I was only missing a couple parts and a couple parts needed to be replaced, next thing I know I getting close to having a 1000$ (canadian) into it.
Many a time I spent $100 on an item that I could probably only sell for, maybe $50. But I sure had fun doing the project! That's what it's all about for us lunatics.
And to think it all starts with one sign... or one truck... or one bottle...
Trev, it's not as pricey if you leave them "as found" lol.... That's my strategy, until I hit the lotto !!!! Hope to see the vendo soon
That is true blunderbuss2, I have spent hours cleaning every little part myself, and I know its not going make it worth more than the hours I have already put into it, but when its all done I will enjoy it and thats most important to me.
Very True Dave I remember years ago I was buying coke bottles for a 1$ or 2$, now im spending 60$ on a coin mech handle lol.
And yes Tom, it would have been alot cheaper if I left it as found, but, it had a few issues that needed attending asap, and now know these machines can be very pricey to save. I guess I kind of leaned the hard way, but have been doing very well at keeping the costs low, so should still be fine when I get her all restored.
Know where you are coming from. When it is at the stage where it can only help by restoring. Hint: "You are you're severest critic", so don't point out minor mistakes you made as 99.99% of the viewers would never know otherwise. Kind of hard to do!
Awesome collection Trevor! Just joined the site and pics of your collection is the one I keep going back to. Very impressed. Yours is like a checklist for me and the bottle carriers I want for my collection. Quite the knowledgeable community here as well. All comments have been helpful.
Hey CokeKid, besides our crystal balls, we do a lot with smoke & mirrors. If that fails, some of us will blow smoke up the proverbial. Welcome to Cyber-Asylum. Er, I meant CW (wrong page again!)
Thanks alot CokeKid-04 glad to see you join! We need more Canadians on here showing off the great Coca-Cola signs that can be found in Canada.
just a short note to wish you and yours and happy and safe Easter weekend
Thanks Hope you have a good one as well.
