Portuguese tiles! Was it the site of a consulate?
Hi dont know too much but I've been to europe quite a few times and see similar new versions in some of the shops obviously for the holiday makers, some of the bigger cities have tile warehouses that stock these sort of tiles but these look like older tiles to me , I would say poss spanish / portugese, I think delft did some also france but theyre different colours, if your in usa they may be mexican!! Looks like theyre all hand painted..lovely tiles m8 good find I love them
it very well could be that old,....the house is dated 1790's
You could try looking on a delft website as some of the plates they made had similar colours and pics .. the other listing youve got I think are spanish/mexican as they have the bulls on some !! Good luck searching
Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Architecture were very popular 1910-1930. They extensively used tiles like this in the designs. The home--as the source of the tiles--was destroyed and built over or trucked in as fill to the location. You could do a records search to solve that mystery.
