These stamps commemorates the 4 Chaplains and the sinking of the S. S. Dorchester on February 3, 1943. The stamp has a postal value of 3 cents, gray black in various shades, printed on white un-watermarked paper using the Rotary Press engraved process, and perforated 11 x 10½. The stamp in design measures 36½ mm x 22 mm. The stamp was issued on May 28, 1948 in memory of the 668 lost souls aboard the Dorchester. As you examine the stamp, you will notice the words across the top "These Immortal Chaplains" which were used to signify that the chaplains shall not be forgotten, the words to the upper right "Interfaith in Action" were used to signify that four different faiths were working in cooperation to save souls. The Scott’s catalog number is 956.
