I'm afraid it's not a Charles Horner piece... The CH would be in a cartouche, and instead of a "sterling" mark it would be a lion passant, the way all English silver is marked. Sorry...

Hello Stillwater. I am so glad you commented. I needed to know this. My other Charles Horner pieces definitely have the CH in a cartouche..and the other English markings. I bought it as a Horner, little did I know..however. Please don't be sorry. Tell me more. CH is ?? and Sterling Silver are the only other markings on the pin. It is very Celtic like BelleEpoque commented. I love it none the less, but would be nice to know who made it and when. Thanks again. That's why we have this site..helps me tons..regards blingiton1948

Couldn't tell you what CH was, might be someone trying to copy him? as a lot of people did copy Horner's thistle stuff. I don't think its even English though, since its marked with sterling and instead of the lion. They have the strictest assay laws in the world, you can actually get in a LOT of trouble for not marking precious metal correctly. A lot of those stones are actually glass, even in some good, old pieces I've had. I believe Horner used real Cairngorm and amethyst, which is a yellow quartz that is found in that region and has mostly been depleted. You'd have to look at them under a loupe either for swirls in glass or inclusions in genuine stone.

Just noticed in the third photo, the facets are smooth, which confirms my hunch that they were glass. Real gemstones from the earth have sharp facets, if they're ever smoothed over like that, they're glass. Good way to tell stones from glass

thank you..yes I think its glass..

There is a second, later, Charles Horner mark which is a C & H overlaid in gothic script. Sometimes it is seen without a hallmark (just the makers mark). But this isn't it. Can't help any more other to say it's later & it's not Horner.

Horner did use glass. It was quite common, especially during the later period.
