I became fascinated with kitchen tools after visiting various thrift stores. I would guess that everyone who has ever spent time in a kitchen knows that they can invent a gadget that would do a task better than what was available and some people actually do that. I found several different garlic presses but this one is the most visually interesting but it does not really do such a good job but with looks like this I had to have it. There's no makers name or other information on it so maybe you can tell me something about it's history. I don't think it's very old.

We have the exact same press at home. I think we purchased it in Seattle in the late 1970s when Sur La Table first started, but I may be mixed up about that. No idea who the manufacturer is (I think they still make them). You have photographed it beautifully. Looks like a piece of sculpture. ;-)

We have long had one of these and love it. Iworks far better than any other garlic press that we have had, and we consume a lot of garlic. I would love to buy another.
