Cast iron pigeon book ends obtained a few years ago from another garage sale.
They are very proud looking birds and I couldn't help but like them.
Found under a house near the bay they had a fair bit of surface rust which I cleaned up and sprayed with preservative. A slight amount of rust has come back but nothing to be concerned about. Cast iron lasts!!!
love the birds; how tall are they? An easy way to protect them after cleaning is to apply a thin coat of paste wax. It isn't permanent as paint but protects very well. I have a large rooster that I polished with black boot polish many years ago and still looks great; a clear paste wax would work just as well if you like the natural looks of the cast iron.
They are just over 6" high.
I have some very good clear cavity wax in a spray can
Nice, I would call them Dove book ends.
The results are the same when they fly over your clean car, but Dove just sound more pleasant than Pigeon, lol
