In 1922, my mother purchased this overstuffed set for her parents. Before, there were 4 rocking chairs around a small decorative parlor table. (The original light fixture almost touched the table and was removed when the center of the room was no longer the center of attention.) There were 3 pieces to the set; one of which was a "sleepy hallow chair" pictured above. Does anyone know what style or what this set might be called?
Beautiful
Thank you, bellapicker. Now, I just have to find another place that will show it off as well!
Very beautiful room!
Thank you, officialfuel. Aren't these wide curving boards that make up the top modeling great!
Where is the house located? I love the wood trim!
Officialfuel, the house is located in Anaheim, California. I tried very hard to find a "respectful" buyer (with the articles and ads in Cottages & Bungalows and even one in American Bungalow). But, the new buyers couldn't wait to start changing it. It will never be like it was--things are only original once!
Your so right! I can tell your sad by all this, My wish for you that you could have kept it. But it sounds like you have some wonderful memories and a few of the great keepsakes!
Officialfuel, I had thought that I would grow old and die in that house; and leave it to the city as a museum or to the historical society or something like that. But, maybe my life wasn't meant to be so tame. And, I probably wouldn't have been here sharing with so many wonderful people who love old things!
P.S. Oh and I have an abundance of great keepsakes!
Very beautiful pattern and colours Jackie!!!!!!
