This is a sterlingsilver brooch / pendant with stone inlays and Mexican stamps. It is made in Taxco and bears the mark YR or yh and the eaglemark. I think the image is inspired by the Codex Zouche-Nuttall, and if so, the figure can represent Eight Deer Jaguar Claw who was a powerful Mixtec ruler in the 11th century. Codex Zouche-Nuttall is a 15th century deerskin manuscipt.
I have not been able to find any information about who made it or how old it is, maybe 50's but I do not know. It is in any case very nice, I think, and it fits perfectly with my black antique silk scarf. I am grateful for ideas on who the silversmith might be, and when it is made. Ideas about the stones are also interesting.
